When the Grass is Frozen

The ground is white, the grass is stiff and cold,

I can't move because everytime I move, this stuff crunches.

What is this?

All I know is this stuff is cold and I can't pee or poop.

I can't move!

All I want to do is go inside!
Help me.

Edamame

Edamame is a green vegetable more commonly known as a soybean, harvested at the peak of ripening right before it reaches the "hardening" time. The word Edamame means "Beans on Branches," and it grows in clusters on bushy branches. To retain the freshness and its natural flavor, it is parboiled and quick-frozen. In East Asia, the soybean has been used for over two thousand years as a major source of protein. Edamame is consumed as a snack, a vegetable dish, used in soups or processed into sweets. As a snack, the pods are lightly boiled in salted water, and then the seeds are squeezed directly from the pods into the mouth with the fingers.

My sisters, Amanda & Brittany introduced this new food to me while celebrating Amanda's birthday in October at Piranha Killer Sushi in downtown Fort Worth. I have eaten these pods a few different ways.
  1. lightly salted w/ sea salt

  2. garlic & spices

  3. Sautéed w/ sea salt

This is a green veggie and 10 years ago I would not have thought about Edamame. I would only eat lettuce and green beans (barely).

This is a great healthy snack or great starter before a meal. Today, this is now one of my favorite foods.

Grooming Day

Yes, I went to the doggie beauty shop. I'm back to short hair, and I'm sporting a Valentine themed bandana. I'll make this entry short. I also want to wish everyone a great weekend. It will be cold, so bundle up. I will even put a sweater on. Enjoy!

History was made Today

Today, Barack H. Obama became our 44th President of the United States. I had a vendor ask me today if I was going to close the office for this historic day. I told him every four years is historic. I worked by myself today, and actually got to see a small clip of it today. I missed the actual swearing in, but one of my coworkers said to catch it on the net. I actually had a tour that came in. I hope the lady I helped was not a secret shop, but if she was then I think I did ok.

Many people are talking about Michelle Obama’s dress tonight for the 10 balls they are going to attend. Fashion is such a big deal. President Ford’s wife recycled a dress she wore when Mr. Ford was governor. Many people did not like that idea. Mrs. Regan’s dress was the most expensive at $25,000. So we will see.Well, I am going to actually start dinner tonight. As many of you know Allen does most of the cooking. I hope many of you were able, and continue to catch a glimpse of history today in our country.

I Love to Travel

Allow me to introduce to you my mom. I’m not going anywhere permanently. You will hear from us both throughout this blog. Plus she is much more interesting than little me!

Wow, what a great 2009 start for us. I would highly recommend a ski trip to the mountains to everyone. The experience of learning something new is very rewarding; the view is something you will never forget, and being around great friends soaking in every moment together is something to cherish.

Thanks to all that are here that gave us great tips before we left, and ha-ha to the people that said to not come back with a broken leg. We came back very sore, but wishing to be there tomorrow.

I will say your normal life as you know it changes a bit for a day or two, until you get in a daily grove. We would wake up at 7:00 am to a guy shoveling snow outside our window and the first bus driving of to Copper Mountain. We would get geared up, get a little grub in our stomach, and hop on the next bus to Copper. At 4:00 pm, the slopes close, and then its time to eat.
Skiing is very physical, and I have much respect for the professionals. I would lag behind getting to and from the bus, because you have to keep up with your gear. I was determined to hold on to my stuff despite my size. All of us would say, “Ok, we got our pre walk before the workout!”
We began our experience with lessons which was just ok. I mainly learned the how to of skiing. The second day was a great powder day, but hard for beginners. I would like to say, “Thanks Kaylan, for teaching us the snaking down the mountain.” The third day, we headed back to the bunny slops for more individual learning. We soon graduated to the next slopes called the Lumber Jack. We then met up with Craig & Kaylan for lunch before heading down a green slope that we would be comfortable doing. I would say by then, we were enjoying skiing on the mountain. Later that night, we drove into Breckenridge CO. to celebrate Allen’s birthday. We ate at a place called Kenosha Steakhouse. We also successfully found our first geocach. I’ll touch on this later, but it is a really cool scavenger game that will get you hooked. I only did it for two days, and now I’m looking for a great hand held GPS system. The fourth and final day was fun. We took photos at the top of the mountain, and Kaylan took me on my first blue slope. Craig & Allen split off to do their final run which from what I hear included some moguls! We concluded our ski day with a fabulous night just next door to our hotel. We all went to a newly opened sushi place that was phenomenal. The Frisco smoked trout is to die for!

All in all, I’m very proud of what we both learned together. I can’t wait to go back next year.

Cleaning Day

It's cleaning day here at YoYo's house. The bathroom is sparkling. I can eat on the floor again, or on the shelves in the kitchen. The living room ceiling fan is dust free! We even filed away 2008's old bills in a box to get room for the 2009 bills in the file box. Well everyone, enjoy this nice sunny day today. Peace.

It's a Great Day at the Park

Well, it was a great day after I got a bath from my owners. When I stay at the grandparents house, I have to always wear a sweater. I was so glad to get that sweater off as soon as I got home. I then lounged a bit just before going for a walk outside. My parents took me to a new park today. Afterwards, we watched the new mummy movie.

It's a Dog's Life

Hello and welcome to my life as YoYo. I am a 3 year old male Yorkshire terrier. I like to say I have a great life. Who doesn’t want to live a dog’s life? We get to lounge around anytime we want and eat when our owners decide to kneel to us. I have two wonderful parents. My parents feed me all kinds of goodies such as carrots, and all natural foods. They also like to take me on walks, mostly to get the mail, and my dad really enjoys playing fetch with me. I have a trunk full of toys, and my baby duck is still my favorite after three years. This is just a small recap of what happens at my pad which I like to call “YoYo’s house.”
I also have a second house I go to when my parents are really busy or on vacation. This house is what I like to call my home away from home, because my grandparents take really good care of me there. I have a buddy named Rufus which is a male Pomeranian. We play all the time, get popcorn after we go outside, and get tons of carrots when granddad eats his dinner. I have lots of aunts and uncles too.All of these people I have introduced to you, you will get to hopefully enjoy learning more about through this new blog I have created.
